Carmel Melia, a volunteer with Nantwich Buddies, has raised almost £1200 for Nantwich Food Bank by making and selling beautiful Christmas decorations. Anyone who has been for their Covid Vaccination recently may have spotted Carmel, amongst other Nantwich Buddies, in the Civic Hall selling her festive wares! Even Carmel’s grandchildren have helped by raising £150 with a stall at their scout gala.
Carmel’s skills shine through in the huge range of gifts and decorations she produces – they really are exceptional. Together with the £1200 Carmel raised for the Food Bank last year, she is making a real difference to those who need help within our local communities.
Sue Pritchard, a Trustee of the Food Bank, was delighted to receive the cheque and said “We are so grateful to Carmel and Nantwich Buddies for the support they give to the Food Bank and all those who need our help. This will make a huge difference to many who are struggling this Christmas”.
Nantwich Buddies also supported the recent ‘Drop and Go’ donation day for the Food Bank, organised by Nantwich Food Festival at Brine Leas School. Volunteers supported the Food Bank Team in sorting donations at the depot, ready for the Christmas Hampers to be put together.
