How the Nantwich Buddies started...

Nantwich Buddies was formed in March 2020 as a direct response to the first COVID-19 lockdown.

Our first 40 volunteers came from our immediate network of friends and family within the first three weeks!  We began working with Cheshire East's People Helping People team who received calls from the general public asking for help, mainly with shopping and prescription collection.

At the height of the pandemic we had over 130 volunteers and supported over 230 households. Amongst the many tasks we completed in our first year were 2,000 weekly shops, 1,000 prescription collections and 1500 hours supporting the Nantwich vaccination programme.

During our second year, we still had around 90 active volunteers supporting 100 households and gave over 8,000 volunteer hours to our local communities.

We still have around 40 active volunteers supporting over 50 households and the requests for support keep coming in.

We have developed other services including social groups and a Volunteer Transport Service, and have also forged strong links with Cheshire East and local GP surgeries, working together to help those most in need get the support they deserve.

If you'd like to join us as a volunteer, please send an email with your phone number and we'll call you back for a chat.
